The Stubbing Wharf Apple Day
Posted: Dec 3, 02:12 pmFollowing the success of the 1st annual international ciderfest at the Stubbing Wharf, we held “Apple Day” on Saturday 27th October, close to National Apple day. It was a fantastic event, with a huge variety of apples to taste and buy, a chocolate fountain for dipping fruit, apple bobbing for the kids and a cider stall for the adults! Also available was an apple press in full use to demonstrate the process of early cider production. Live music was a really lovely touch and the room was filled with delicious smells from the hot pork & apple pies and freshly poured cider.
“Jaffa”, the apple oracle was an amazing source of apple information and provided much in the way of entertainment for the kids, who seemed to come in their hundreds. (A small exaggeration!) Jan the storyteller set up a reading circle later in the afternoon and the whole room was in raptures, listening to her apple themed tales.
The pub was busy as usual downstairs and it was super to find newcomers wandering upstairs to sample the atmosphere and just a touch of cider! The canalside access also meant that many walkers wandered in, lured by the beautiful music and delicious smells. We welcome your feedback if you joined us for the festival and look forward to seeing you at our future events.
